Scheduling maintenance

A maintenance window tells users about planned work before it happens, so expected downtime doesn't look like an outage. During the window, affected monitors show MAINTENANCE instead of DOWN.

Creating a window

1. Console → Maintenance → New.
2. Set a title and a description of what you're doing.
3. Choose the start and end time.
4. Select the affected monitors/components.
5. Save — it appears on your status page as scheduled.

What visitors see

• Before — an upcoming maintenance notice with the scheduled time.
• During — affected components display MAINTENANCE, and the window is marked in-progress.
• After — the window closes and components return to their live status.

Best practice

• Schedule during low-traffic hours and announce with enough lead time.
• Be specific about impact: which features, and whether downtime is expected.
• Keep the window tight; extend it explicitly if work runs long.
